Description | |
Background | The amino terminal propeptide (PINP) of type I procollagen is the n-terminal product cleaved by type I procollagenase during bone formation and eventually enters the bloodstream. As a bone transformation marker, PINP can be used to assess fracture risk and monitor osteoporosis outcomes. At the same time, PINP can also be used for Paget bone disease, osteoblastic metastasis, breast cancer, prostate cancer and children and adolescents growth process monitoring. PINP detection is currently divided into two types: full segment PINP and total PINP. Both are consistent in many clinical applications, but the results of full-segment PINP are more accurate when testing patients with renal dysfunction. |
