ALP (Alkaline phosphatase) is a homodimeric protein enzyme. It performs its optimal activity when in alkaline pH conditions. The enzyme is found across a multitude of organisms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes alike, with the same general function, but in different structural forms suitable to the environment they function in.They catalyze the hydrolysis of organic phosphate esters found in the extracellular space. Zinc and magnesium are essential cofactors of this enzyme.It is mainly found in liver and bones，its concentration in the bloodstream is used as a biomarker in helping determine diagnoses such as hepatitis or osteomalacia.Alkaline phosphatase is often used to couple with antibodies and proteins, and the coupled products are used in ELISA, WB, IHC, FCW, CLIA, etc.
