Protein products are manufactured using cells derived from bacterial, mammalian, insect and yeast cells. The selection is largely dictated by the expression of the target gene, which determines the suitability of a particular cell type for protein expression. Stable cell lines are cellular models that harbor genetic modifications to express specific proteins or biomolecules of interest.
Stable cell line generation can improve product batch-to-batch consistency, and suit for more applications in research and biologics production. Stable cell line generation involves many steps, including choose the expression system based on efficiency to produce the desired gene or protein (such as CHO, Hybridoma or HEK 293 are typical platforms of choice), choosing a suitable vector comprising promoter and regulatory elements, transfection or transduction (introducing a vector into the host cell), selecting successfully transfected or transduced cell lines, and cloning and expansion of the selected cells.
Biotyscience offers a full range of custom stable cell line development services to generate high yields of recombinant protein products. The vector is transfected in a monoclonal host cell line that will not only be able to deliver high titers and desired product characteristics, but also be transferable to manufacturing.
